7 high-protein toast toppings that will be sure to satisfy you whether you are in the mood for sweet or savory! Including protein in your first meal of the day, along with healthy carbohydrates and fats will provide a more steady, extended energy boosts and helps with regulating your blood sugar. Additionally, a high protein breakfast has shown to benefits muscle health, support weight loss, energy expenditure, satiety hormones, and glucose regulation. If you find yourself skipping breakfast or are just not fulfilled or unexcited with your current breakfast, then just keep reading. I've put together some high-protein toast topping recipes that are rich in flavor and leave you feeling full for hours!


What type of bread?

CHOOSING A GOOD BREAD

Some breads are healthier and are more nutritious than others. To choosing a bread, look for those made with 100% whole grains or sprouted-grain flours. A few good options include sourdough, sprouted whole grain, 100% whole wheat, oat bread, flax bread, 100% spouted rye bread, and healthy gluten-free bread.

Toast #1: Smoked Salmon Toast

Ingredients:

  • slice of bread, toasted

  • cottage cheese

  • smoked salmon

  • red onion

  • capers

  • dill

  • cracked pepper

Toast #2: High Protein Avocado Toast

Ingredients:

Toast #3: Sautéed Mushroom Toast

Ingredients:

  • slice of bread, toasted

  • cottage cheese

  • sautéed shiitake mushrooms

  • rosemary

  • cracked pepper

  • red pepper

Toast #4: Caprese Arugula Toast

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of Ezekiel Bread, toasted

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste

  • 4 slices of tomato

  • 4 slices of fresh mozzarella

  • fresh basil

  • arugula

  • black pepper

  • salt

  • oregano

  • balsamic glaze

Toast #5: Cottage Cheese Lemon Berry Jam Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice sourdough, toasted

  • 2 tbsp cottage cheese

  • 1/2 cup frozen berries

  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • lemon zest

  • honey

Toast #6: Lemon Blueberry Custard Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 slices of sourdough

  • 3 tbsp greek yogurt

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 tbsp vanilla protein powder (Orgain Organic)

  • 1/2 lemon juice

  • 1/2 lemon zest

  • frozen wild blueberries

  • honey

Toast #7: Orange Pistachio Cottage Cheese Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice of sourdough

  • 2 tbsp cottage cheese

  • 1 naval orange, sliced

  • pistachios, chopped

  • red pepper flakes

  • honey

  • himalayan salt
